Elie Quial (Ee-lai Kee-yal), a mixed-media painter and muralist, weaves a symphony of colors, shape and texture in her art. Her artistic prowess extends beyond paints and brushes; she transforms discarded denim jackets into one-of-a-kind masterpieces, uniting the realms of sewing and painting.
A citizen of the world, Elie has traversed the lands of Qatar, Canada, and the United Arab Emirates for almost two decades, honing her skills in the fashion and airline industry. Her artistic journey found its roots in the Fashion Design program at the Art Institute of Vancouver.
For Elie, the exploration of ideas with tangible outcome excites her. She thrives in the almost frustrating part of play - the sweet spot of the in-betweens when painting. Her creative process is a whirlwind of emotion, where love and hate coexist, and play and experimentation reign supreme. Elie embraces the chaos of her craft, for she believes that it is through exploration and failure that one discovers the true essence of art.
The vibrance of Elie's personality echoes in the bold and saturated hues she employs in her art. She finds beauty in imperfection, cherishing the charm of crooked shapes and mismatched patterns. Her art is a celebration of life in all its forms, a journey through the curlicues of existence, where every color has a story to tell.
Nature, with its wild spirit and unbridled beauty, serves as a muse for Elie's art. Her first solo show was an ode to the untamed wilderness, reflecting on her journey of life's ups and downs. Through her art, she honors the tumultuous yet transformative nature of existence, finding beauty in every curve and hue.
